About Us

  • Committed to working in partnership with parents

We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers, welcoming them into the day care settings to ensure that there is a two-way flow of information, knowledge and expertise. This enhances each child’s well being, development and progress which is paramount in all that we do.

We recognise parents and carers as the first and most important educators of their child. We seek to involve parents and carers in the development and education of their child in order to support them in this vital role.

Practitioners have a wealth of knowledge and  are on hand to support you throughout your child’s time at Dinky Ducks, offering advice with behaviour, speech, sleep or potty training (supported by our home learning bags) or simply just offering a listening ear when needed.

Children who are eligible for 30 hours early years education funding can use this from the term after their third birthday until they go to school as long as parents update their claim as required by the Government. The children having 30 hours funding will receive the maximum of 1140 funded hours over three terms.

  • Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

As an early years setting providing government funded education for 3 and 4 year olds, we can receive additional funding to support the development, learning and care of eligible children that attend free early years education sessions.

If you are a parent in receipt of certain welfare benefits; or your child is looked after by the Local Authority, or has been adopted from care, or has left care under a special guardianship or residence order; then your family could be eligible for the EYPP funding.

We use this premium to provide speech and language support through small group activities, extra help with the transition to school, further training for staff to better equip them to support your child, and through the role of our Emotional Wellbeing Leader.
  • Learning Journal recordingactivities and interests

Each child has an online Tapestry learning journal where the key person records what their key children are doing and what their interests are. This is done through observations which are taken by all practitioners throughout the nursery day and allow the key person to plan for your child’s individual interests. When recording how each child is developing, practitioners look at the next steps for each child’s development. An assessment report is completed  by the key person working in partnership with the parents each term. All of this ensures we continue to meet our aims of meeting each child’s individual learning and development needs.

  • Additional facilities and services

We have a library and sensory room on site, both are part of our Family Centre. The children access the library regularly and we encourage children to borrow books to take home. The sensory room is used by trained staff to support small groups of children and individual children. Parents can also arrange to access this room with their children through the Family Centre.

We work in close partnership with the local Health Visiting team and we are able to take babies and children to the Health Visiting weigh in clinic in the Family Centre on a Thursday at the parents request.
